Congratulations to PhD student @LucasPhilipp1 on his first preprint! 🎉 He used Hi-C data to reconstruct the 3D conformations of dinoflagellate chromosomes 🦠🧬 And contrary to the prevailing model, they aren't liquid crystalline! 😯 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Congratulations, Vera Ugalde Lab! 🥳🧠 Check out their new paper on how neurons respond to stress by locally synthesizing chaperones in dendrites! Also, they're hiring, so check them out! veraugaldelab.net/
Curious about how neurons maintain protein homeostasis in dendrites under proteotoxic stress?  Our latest @NatureComms study reveals stressed neurons localize & translate HSP mRNAs in dendrites, creating on-demand chaperones to correct misfolded proteins. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Hey Biophysicists! We've heard a lot (too much😬) about viruses lately, but they're interesting for reasons beyond public health. Turns out, viruses are master architects of biomolecular condensates! Virologist @SaganLab and I teamed up on this review: authors.elsevier.com/sd/arti…

The most exciting point for biophysicists is that viruses represent a (relatively) simplified system with which to explore the *function* of condensates. Virologists have a wealth of knowledge and reagents that we can leverage to dissect condensate function 👩‍🔬🤝🧑🏾‍🔬

Honored to be your first Meet-the-Author visitor😊 Such a great idea to leverage Zoom to bring external speakers into the classroom! Always a pleasure talking science with you, and I was so impressed with how well prepared and thoughtful the students were! 🤓
A shout out to @weber_lab for talking to my class today about bacterial condensates, state of the field, and helping us parse through your PNAS 2020 paper! It was a ton of fun to see how you think about science and hypothesis-building. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.20…

Exciting opportunity! Wish I could apply 🤓
Looking for postdoc @embl to study how bacterial ribosomal #RNA transcription and phase separation are linked by combining single-molecule methods (@OlivierDuss lab) and @cryoET (Julia Mahamid lab), fully funded by @SPP2191. Please RT!
