On this day 47 years ago I began my first full-time job as a social worker on the princely salary of £2,127. The rest, as they say, is history. I've no hesitation in commending a career in #socialwork & #socialcare. It's opened up so many opportunities. I'd do it all over again.

Today I publish new research which shows that the vast majority of victims and perpetrators were known to services before a domestic homicide.
Any life lost to domestic homicide is a tragic failure by systems. We must do more to protect victims and prevent future deaths.
