From community engagement and testing to contact tracing and treatment, the government-led #Ebola response in the #DRC is being intensified. Significant challenges remain, but with strong collaboration, sustained support for frontline health workers, and the people of DRC the outbreak can be brought under control, says @Chikwe_I, @WHO's Executive Director for the Health Emergencies Programme.

Health facilities in Ituri Province are strengthening infection prevention and control measures to stop the spread of #Ebola. Facilities that have had contact with an Ebola case are systematically disinfected and decontaminated to reduce the risk of further transmission.

As part of the Ebola response in Ituri Province, DRC, @MinSanteRDC, with support from @WHO and @UNICEF, trained health workers, supervisors and IPC focal points from facilities across the health zone to strengthen infection prevention and control practices. The training covered hand hygiene, screening and triage, safe management of healthcare waste, proper use of PPE, and cleaning and disinfection procedures. Participants are now better equipped to protect patients, fellow health workers and communities.

I had a productive meeting with @hawelti, Eritrea's Minister of Information, to discuss the critical role of communication in public health. We exchanged views on promoting accurate health information, countering misinformation, and highlighting Eritrea’s health achievements. Effective communication remains essential for building trust, strengthening preparedness, and supporting public health responses across Africa.
