We are talking about using a level sight at increment. So if you set up two targets(100m, 200m) and adjust them to be at the center of a level sight the will look inline. If you move the level up to the 100m target the target will be slightly higher and observe the other target >

So on a flat earth 5.25 degrees of the equator would be 556 miles. Or over 38,000 miles. The measured equator is 24,901 miles. This means the earth can’t be flat. With a bit of mathematics you can also work out the radius of the earth.
