There’s a very simple question for all the Beijing propagandists pushing this line - why are all non Chinese owned platforms banned in China? All.
This is why the U.S. is banning TikTok or anything from China. Just simple chats with average Chinese people on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) made numerous people in the U.S. aware of how toxic their system is.
Community note
People in the US spend 6.7% of their total consumer expenditure on food for consumption at home. The figure in China is 20.1%. On average, workers in China also work more hours than in the US -- 2,174 per year to 1,757, or 41.8 hours a week to 33.8. ourworldindata.org/grapher/food-e… ourworldindata.org/grapher/annual…

I felt the same when I went to New Zealand. 🤣🤣🤣 - I didn’t actually, it was lovely. But going to Aukland did’t make me think, “not as fancy as Sydney or Melbourne”, because it’s a different place. I’m
Aww, I felt the same way. So many Chinese mainland friends kept telling me: “You will love Taiwan so much, it’s so nice” etc etc. I held off going for so long to keep it as something to look forward to… I was so disappointed.

The greatest Japanese invention most of the world still hasn't heard of. It has long struck me as odd that Japanese washlet toilets didn't sweep the world like so much other Japanese technology - and still haven't. Although slowly slowly it seems to be happening.

In order to promote greater regional peace and prosperity Beijing can establish itself as a role model to all by decommissioning its intermediate-range missiles and cease coercive behavior. 🙃
The region needs peace and prosperity, not intermediate-range missiles and confrontation. #China again urges the #Philippines to heed the calls of regional countries and people, to correct its mistaken actions as soon as possible, and to withdraw the "Typhon" missile system in line with its prior public commitments, avoiding going down the wrong path further, Lin added.

Beijing doing a Scarborough Shoal on Sabina Shoal. Which is why it's necessary to have a constant, rotational coastguard or naval presence, not an intermittent one, to station at the feature. Large OPVs are required. Anything less than that would lead to such an outcome.

A really fascinating and detailed look in to how another piece of Tokyo history (and public land) is set to disappear under yet another vast high rise office and residential development.

NHK has finally taken a deep dive the Johnny Kitagawa scandal. Like the BBC & Jimmy Savile, this is uncomfortable territory for NHK since the company was so heavily involved in promoting Kitagawa's company and ignoring the open secret of his child abuse. nhk.jp/p/special/ts/2NY2QQLP…

PRC Eastern Theater Command just announced exercises in the Taiwan Strait. Lai dialed back his 10/10 speech from his inaugural. So China is validating those who say no matter what Taiwan does, no matter what Lai does, they will escalate. Not a wise policy.
The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday organized its troops of army, navy, air force and rocket force to conduct “Joint Sword-2024B” drills in the Taiwan Strait and the north, south and east of the island of Taiwan, said a spokesperson. #XinhuaNews
