Each spring, the Cahaba River comes alive with one of the Southeast’s most remarkable blooms. The Cahaba lily thrives in swift, sunlit water, anchoring itself to rocks as it blooms in bright white clusters across the river. Photo by Keith Boseman

Proud to join Pro Tem Gudger to celebrate the passage of our workforce development package, which includes $150M in funding to build & upgrade CTE centers across our state. We want to create opportunities for young people to step into good-paying jobs - this package does just that.

✍️: I have signed the Sarah Marsh Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act into law. Parents should have confidence their children are protected when they are away from home. After the heartbreaking loss of young Sarah Marsh in Texas, I believed we had a responsibility to act. #alpolitics

Staggering and absolutely shameful. What are we even doing here?
"Recent stories about grade inflation and college students struggling with basic math hint that these gaps exist. But when I started digging into the numbers, I was startled by just how large they were." The Graduation Gap - by Chad Aldeman chadaldeman.com/p/the-gradua…

Dr. Preeti Nichani, principal of Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Elementary, received a surprise Tuesday she will never forget. When she walked into the school gym, hundreds of cheering students, colleagues and district leaders were waiting to celebrate her being named a National Distinguished Principal — one of the most prestigious honors for elementary school leaders in the United States. Nichani will represent Alabama in the national program later this year. It was great to visit the CREATE Center in Oxford with my friends Rep. Chad Robertson, Rep. Steve Hurst, and Senator Keith Kelley. This facility is a major workforce development engine for East Alabama and is doing a great job preparing students for success.

Parker Evans, a senior at @GoCHSFalcons, is soaring toward an extraordinary future! ✈️ On March 2, Parker was celebrated for his selection into the Fall 2026 class of Tuskegee University’s Aviation Science Program — one of the most competitive aviation pathways in the nation. Chosen as one of just 25 students from more than 400 applicants nationwide, Parker will join a new generation carrying forward the legacy of the historic Tuskegee Airmen. During the ceremony, @TuskegeeUniv representatives announced that Parker also received a University Achievement Scholarship valued at approximately $50,000 over four years. The university will also cover his flight training costs. “I feel really honored, and it’s also a very humbling experience,” Parker said. “My ultimate goal is just to fly.” To read more, visit: tinyurl.com/25ua3b95 @CHSFalconsFTBL @MikeDaria @TAINational @bamaEMW @egmackey @Trish_Crain @TaliethaW @AlabamaAchieves @DeMario_Pippen @ESPNupe @TerriCeleste1 @tidecam @AngieFMorrison

Continuing the advocacy work on Capitol Hill 🇺🇸 Elementary school leaders from @AAESACLAS met with @sentuberville’s staff to discuss how federal decisions impact our principals, teachers, & students. Every conversation counts. #NSLAC26 #PrincipalsAdvocate @NAESP

Over 15 years ago I completed my teaching practicum at Eastwood MS. It makes me happy to see the school thriving!
From @WBRCnews: A major part of being proactive was to create an atmosphere of belonging, something to look forward to every month. So, they started the house system. The house system divides students into competing groups that earn points for attendance, academics and participation in monthly house games like dodgeball. #aledchat wbrc.com/2026/02/09/west-ala…

Good news! The House just passed the FY26 omnibus funding bill (again) that includes K-12 education. The vote was 217-214. The bill now goes to the White House for the President to sign into law and end the brief partial government shutdown. @NAESP
