After having done countless interviews both for FAANG companies & my own startup, one thing that holds true is that "senior" doesn't automatically translate to "can problem-solve well". After 100 interviews in my career, I know now that Impressive resume != Can code well
From a startup CTO: "Now that offering full-remote work is no longer a big differentiator for hiring, I wonder what the next big differentiator can be for smaller companies like us."
They ended up betting on a simple hiring process with no coding exercise for senior engineers.
