It's completely insane that one of my oldest and closest friends is on this list. He's been working towards this for 30 years. So proud!

Ok, this probably isn't going to work, but f**k it, we'll do it live.
If we did an impromptu 45 minute lunch discussion about political ads and the US election in about an hour, would you come along?

One interesting thing about Trump getting cross about a lack of balance when Harris was on SNL is that SNL gets about 5 million viewers, yet is subject to all sorts of media regulation (which is what annoyed him). Rogan gets 11 million listeners/viewers per episode.

The likeliest outcome in the US is, of course, that TV gets deregulated. In Europe, it points the other way.

Everyone that isn't America is going to massively over-index on the influencers/podcasts thing, when their media markets look nothing like the US.

Eventually, someone's going to say "we should put these three hour podcasts on TV" and a few months later they'll realise they're just watching French television, every night.

Interestingly, my version of that has become a massive fascist since.

Interested in these shifts and the growth of vertical video over the same time period. Is there a way to study it? So hard to know what people actually see in their feeds...

Possible causes (ruling out the left wing ones): - Young people feel really, really cut off from economic opportunity (but under 25s? really?) - Vertical video - Both x.com/mtracey/status/1854181…

Incredible. From the Wisconsin exit poll: Trump wins by double digits among voters age 18-24, loses by double digits among voters age 65 Virtually unfathomable 5-10 years ago

I'm sorry to hear this. Lots of good people here, and always grateful for their support for @WhoTargetsMe over the years.

A good thing to meet people where they are, but there's a risk to reliance on the algorithms and whims of foreign companies.
EXC: A new digital unit is being launched by No 10 – the New Media Unit – as Morgan McSweeney moves to take central control of govt communications Based in the Cabinet Office, No10 hopes it can sidestep the “Westminster bubble” with a focus on platforms like Instagram and TikTok

If Labour is worried the "Westminster bubble" isn't giving them a fair hearing, it might also want to look at media ownership, platform monopolies etc. Big job though.

Probably nobody in the world has done more damage to the reputation of the pro-free speech/anti-censorship movement (which I support) than Elon Musk, someone who has used these values as cover for spewing a torrent of absurd, self-serving lies and propaganda.
