Here's a look at the eclipse crossing Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas using GOES West satellite imagery. Notice the blue and white circular area? That's the area under totality. Take any good eclipse pictures? We'd love to see them!

TXANS Update—8/7/23: Due to continued higher temps, higher demand, & the potential for lower reserves, the ERCOT Weather Watch is extended through Fri. 8/11. Grid conditions are expected to be normal & can be monitored on ercot.com. #TXANS: bit.ly/45dldf0

Last night @TDEM activated Texas Task Force 2 to respond after a tornado hit the town of Matador, Texas. TXTF2 arrived in the early morning hours and began operations. We are proud of our dedicated team members who put their life on hold to respond at a moment’s notice, to assist their fellow Texans.
At least four people died and nine were injured after a tornado hit Matador, a small town of nearly 800 people northeast of Lubbock. The city also suffered extensive property damage and power outages. bit.ly/44adduE

The #TXEMTF is still deployed for disaster medical response in the aftermath of the Perryton tornado. We have multiple ambulance strike teams and AMBUSs supporting the area.

“DID WE JUST SEE WHAT WE THINK WE JUST SAW?!” Kevin Harlan nearly FELL OUT OF HIS CHAIR. Dan Bonner and @realStanVG were STUNNED. The crew’s reaction to Furman’s dramatic win over Virginia was incredible.

Watching a great presentation at #AMS2023 by @Kenziek56 on perceptions of severe weather risk. Hints that messaging needs to change in low/high warning areas. Great research.
