For a long time I wondered about elliptic curve cryptog. Is my computer drawing ellipses somewhere? How are they used?
When I couldn't find the answers I started to make my own. It took some time to figure out the animation, but I love the result.
Enjoy! curves.ulfheim.net

Here you find out when lithium-ion batteries will be the most competitive for providing peak capacity (PC)... Or when is hydrogen becomes the best for integrating renewables (RE)?
Let's walk through the cheapest storage technologies over time.
1β£ Colours represent the technologies with the lowest lifetime cost.
2β£ The axes show discharge duration and cycling frequency. They cover the whole spectrum from second-by-second balancing applications (bottom right) up to inter-seasonal storage (top left), and everything in between.
3β£ Shading indicates how strong the cost advantage is over the second cheapest technology.
The evolution of this competitive landscape is based on projected reductions in investment costs over time. These come from statistically-derived which are published in Monetizing Energy Storage: global.oup.com/academic/prodβ¦
Wonder what it would look like if pumped hydro is not an option? Or where and when a radically new, better technology would fit into this mix?

10 years ago, audiophiles debated which version of memcpy has the better sound quality and more. Hilarious! π No wonder Monster Cable still exists.

Doug @Rushkoff says that the ethic of today's "entrepreneur" is to #GoMeta - don't provide a product or a service, simply find a way to be a predatory squatter on a chokepoint between people who do useful things and people who use those things.
Elliptic curves and finite fields are some of the most basic building blocks of ZKP.

Story behind "I says to Mabel"
Homer story in Chili ep was so full we had no room for kids B story
So when Homer asks them where Marge is, they have nothing going on. What they're doing that moment had to be 100% freestanding
Hence, Mabel

I needed to get some SSM params out of AWS without access to awscli or 169.254 or boto, and doing this in bash isn't obvious or well documented (that I could find). Just in case you ever find yourself in the same situation, I wrote up my result: github.com/syncsynchalt/aws-β¦
The governor has declared a state of emergency and asked all Californians to not run `npm install` between 4 PM and 9 PM today in an effort to save energy.
Thanks to a small but vocal crowd of requestors Iβve written a byte-by-byte breakdown of DTLS, the secure UDP-based protocol.
Thanks to @wolfSSL for being (one of?) the first to support DTLS 1.3, the latest proto version. Couldnβt have done without it!

For the past 21 years I've been publishing my work under the domain name "ulfheim.net".
A few years ago a hate group started using the "ulfheim" name for their own purposes. It's useless trying to reclaim a word, so I'm moving to the domain "xargs.org".
You might start seeing my TLS, QUIC, ECC, etc sites showing up mirrored under the xargs.org domain name. Yes, that's me, and I'm sorry if I break any certs or configs temporarily along the way π
