The first batch (18) of @ESO #ELT primary mirror polished segments have arrived in Paranal Observatory. They will be the first ones going through the coating procedure. Thanks to the amazing work by our team!
3/ The #ELT’s M1 will be over 39 m across, making it the world’s largest eye on the sky. Such scale means that the mirror can’t be cast in one piece. Thus, it will consist of 798 segments working together.
