Glad to share our new preprint on promoter escape by mammalian Pol II! We captured five transcription intermediates (de novo initiated from the PIC) and visualized the key steps where the initially transcribing complex (ITC) transitions into an elongation complex (EC).

Our work leads to a simple, three-step model of promoter escape by mammalian Pol II, which is regulated by RNA length, transcription bubble rewinding and elongation factors. Big thanks to Patrick @mpgpresident, Christian @c_dienemann, Elisa @EOberbeckmann and the Cramer lab!
