What an amazing evening we had at the @HW_Chamber of Commerce Awards! A few members of the Dolphin team got dressed up and had a glitzy evening celebrating the achievements of local businesses and the difference we collectively make to the counties' workforce and local economy. At Dolphin, we’re incredibly proud of what we do every day and what we've done for the last 40 years: helping to make education, work and everyday life more accessible for people with vision impairments and neurodiversity. That’s why being shortlisted as finalists for Small Business of the Year means so much to us. While we didn’t take home the award this time, we are hugely proud of our team and everything they’ve achieved to get us where we are. Being recognised alongside such an inspiring group of businesses is an accomplishment in itself. A huge congratulations to all the winners, finalists and highly commended businesses! Thank you to the organisations and partners we work with, your collaboration enables us to keep developing assistive tech that make a real difference for people with vision impairments and neurodiversity at work, at school and at home.

Great to see the global accessibility community coming together in Oslo today for the second day of the DAISY Consortium meeting at the National Library of Norway. The DAISY Consortium plays a key role in improving access to reading for people with print impairments. It brings organisations together to create standards and solutions that make information easier to access and use. Being part of DAISY is an important part of Dolphin’s commitment to accessible reading. It allows the team to work closely with partners across the sector and help shape the future of inclusive publishing. It’s been valuable to connect in person, share ideas, and learn from others across the community. Yesterday’s programme featured a strong line-up of speakers, including Richard Orme opening discussions, and Dolphin’s Mattias presenting on how MathML in EasyReader can improve access to complex content. Dolphin colleagues Mattias and Anders, alongside CEO James, are actively involved throughout the event, contributing to conversations and collaboration. Events like this show what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared goal: making reading accessible for everyone. #A11y #DigitalAccessibility #InclusiveReading #DAISYConsortium #AssistiveTechnology #Inclusion #VI #Dyslexia #blind

Accessible reading matters. It’s about making sure everyone can read in a way that works for them. Whether that’s print, audio, braille or flexible digital formats, access to reading opens up learning, work and reading for pleasure. For people with vision impairments and other print disabilities, it’s what makes reading possible. That’s why industry collaboration is so important. Our work with the @DAISYConsortium , along with standards like EPUB 3 and eBraille, is all part of moving accessible reading forward in a practical way. This week’s DAISY Technical Meeting 2026 at the National Library of Norway, brings that work together. Great to see Mattias Karlsson from Dolphin speaking in the “Reading and Authoring Mathematics” session. His presentation looks at how EasyReader supports accessible maths content, including practical use of MathML with MathCAT library and new AI-powered features. It’s exactly the kind of progress that shows how much accessible reading continues to evolve.

When students can’t access text, they can’t access learning. For many #SEND learners, reading remains a key barrier that can limit their independence, confidence and their ability to demonstrate knowledge. Over time, this can lead to frustration and disengagement and have a wider impact across the school. Access to text isn’t just about support, it’s about creating a truly inclusive learning environment. At Dolphin, we’re working to remove barriers to reading and learning. EasyReader Education gives students access to over 1 million accessible educational resources worldwide, with customisable features that help them learn in a way that works for them. And we’re not stopping there. We’re excited to be launching new EasyReader Education tools to support revision and independent learning. We’ll be showcasing these AI-powered features at Nasen Live on 3rd July 2026 – come and visit us for a live demo and see them in action. Today, Thursday 21 May, marks Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). It is a global opportunity to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion for the more than one billion people worldwide living with disabilities. At Dolphin, accessibility is not just a conversation. It has been our mission for 40 years. As we celebrate Dolphin @ 40, we are proud to reflect on four decades of breaking down barriers and building independence for people who are blind, partially sighted or print-impaired. From pioneering screen readers in 1986 to today’s evolving assistive technologies, our focus has always been the same: making technology work for everyone. GAAD is a reminder that accessibility is essential. While progress has been made, there is still more to do. Let’s keep pushing for a world where digital experiences are inclusive by design. Here’s to 40 years of impact and the future of accessibility. #GAAD #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #Dolphin40 #AssistiveTechnology #DigitalInclusion

“It’s been a really enriching experience.” Laura joined us through the Get Set Progress internship, bringing her lived experience of using assistive technology into our Product Testing team, that perspective is invaluable. Her insight helps us understand how our software works in everyday situations, where it really matters. Which is where meaningful improvement happens. This is what inclusion should look like in practice - listening, learning, and building better together. Read more hubs.la/Q04gyT290 #AccessibilityMatters #InclusiveWorkplace #AssistiveTech

Members of the Dolphin team were proud to attend the official opening of the new pelican crossing at New College Worcester, a truly lovely event celebrating accessibility, confidence and opportunity. The crossing has been named in honour of the late Noel Duffy, a governor “whose work helped transform access to assistive technology for blind and partially sighted people”, a legacy that continues to make a real difference to young people today. It was inspiring to see how this new on‑campus crossing will help blind and vision‑impaired students build confidence and independence in a safe, supportive environment. We’re delighted to have been part of the occasion and are very happy to continue Noel’s legacy through work that supports inclusion and independence for all.
