Twenty-five years ago, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology made a bold move that most universities would never dare. Instead of locking its world-class course materials behind campus walls, MIT decided to put nearly its entire curriculum online, completely free for anyone with an internet connection. That decision gave birth to MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW). What began as a bold experiment in 2001 has become one of the most significant educational initiatives in history. Today, OCW provides materials from more than 2,500 undergraduate and graduate courses across virtually every discipline: physics, engineering, artificial intelligence, economics, biology, mathematics, computer science, and many more. Anyone can access lecture notes, problem sets, exams, syllabi, and a growing library of video lectures, with no tuition, no application, and no account required. According to MIT, more than 500 million people worldwide have used these resources over the past 25 years. The impact has been profound. Students use it to ace exams, explore new fields, and launch careers. Educators around the globe integrate the materials into their own teaching. Many learners credit OCW with helping them pass professional certifications and unlock new opportunities. Beyond its direct benefits, OpenCourseWare helped spark the global open education movement, inspiring dozens of other universities to share their knowledge freely online. Even more impressive: the project was originally planned as a 10-year initiative. A quarter-century later, it's still expanding. MIT now aims to reach 1 billion learners in the coming decade, while enhancing the experience with powerful new AI-powered learning tools.

Got a whole bunch of data points for this yr Whole lot of folk with good ranks have scored max in chem and very poorly in mathematics which is actually the most critical foundation for most of the technical courses

amusing to see JEE Advanced is now seen as detrimental to selecting quality students for IIT intake.

On a different note JEE advanced format made sense only till IITs had traditional branches like EE Chem Mech Civil etc. Doesn't make sense at all for at least half their current programs Bioinformatics, operations research, AI, computational..

According to IIT Roorkee, they analyzed data from only 10,000 students and identified just 2 suspicious cases. However, 10,000 students represent only about 5% of the approximately 179,000 candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced @iitroorkee @agrawalmanindra @iitbombay @IITKanpur

Yes we need diversity in admissions to take care of different factors, relying only on one exam score for every course isn't a good way.
We miss many talented students who focus heavily in cyberspace at the cost of preparing for JEE.

Her name is Pooja Singhal. She was born in Dehradun in 1978. At 21 she cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her first attempt, securing All India Rank 10. She was among the youngest IAS officers of her batch. Her name was entered in the Limca Book of Records. At her interview, she reportedly pledged she would spend her career working for “the poorest of the poor.” She was posted to the Jharkhand cadre in 2000 as one of the first IAS officers of the newly formed state. She rose steadily through the bureaucracy. By 2022 she had become the Mining Secretary of Jharkhand, one of the most powerful positions in a mineral rich state. On May 6 2022, the Enforcement Directorate raided 18 premises linked to her across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi and Punjab. At the Ranchi premises of her chartered accountant Suman Kumar, investigators recovered Rs 17.49 crore in cash. Banknote counting machines were brought in to count it. The total cash recovery across locations was reported at Rs 19.31 crore. Pooja Singhal was arrested on May 11 2022. ED investigators later traced part of the alleged money trail to Khunti district, where she had served as Deputy Commissioner between 2008 and 2011. The ED alleged that Rs 18.06 crore linked to MGNREGA funds had been embezzled during her tenure. MGNREGA is the government scheme that guarantees 100 days of paid work every year to rural households. The poorest of the poor. The ED also alleged that funds linked to the case were invested in a hospital associated with her husband. The agency later provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 82.77 crore linked to her in Ranchi. Her bail was rejected by the PMLA court in August 2022. Rejected again by the Jharkhand High Court in November 2022. Rejected by the Supreme Court in April 2024. During proceedings, the Supreme Court described it as an “extraordinary case” and remarked that there was “something seriously wrong.” She spent 28 months in jail. On December 7 2024, a special PMLA court granted her bail. The Jharkhand government revoked her suspension and reinstated her, effective the same date. The ED opposed her reinstatement. The PMLA court rejected the ED’s plea to bar her from a government posting, stating that it was beyond the court’s jurisdiction. The investigation and trial are still ongoing. At 21, she reportedly told the UPSC board she wanted to work for the poorest of the poor. The funds the ED alleges were embezzled were meant for exactly those people. Follow for verified stories India deserves to remember.

Institute over branch is a very risky thing to do unless you're choosing a program where you can anyway do what you wanted (to some extent) Engg physics can do a lot of EE/EC Math/Comp or EE can (often) do quite a bit of AI, ML, CS Institute level flexibility also matters
College choices seem very hard, here's how I think about key factors: - Institute over branch - Peers >> Opportunities - Being close to home helps - Median outcomes most accurate - Metros generally better than smaller towns If you're spoilt for choice, you're in a good place

Anyone setting a Biology paper would know it’s always going to be used for NEET, as JEE doesn’t have Biology. By the way, NEET and JEE physics and chemistry papers differ in complexity, so how can the same question pool be used for both exams? It’s surprising that despite having 1.5 billion people, we can’t find a handful of non-corrupt people to make these exams free from paper leaks!

Wow Shocking swings Impossible without cheating, if this data is accurate Must have baseline cutoffs in each paper
JEE Advanced 2026 — a student scored -3 in Paper 1 and 104 in Paper 2. Same exam. Same day. Same syllabus. Paper 2 was rated harder this year. 60,000 students. Dozens of 100 mark swings between P1 and P2. P1 ends 12 PM. P2 starts 2:30 PM. That's a 2.5hr window. #JEEAdvanced2026

Yes that's the rule but in boards like CBSE that 20 percentile is always above 75
I think the rule is Either be in top 20 percentile of your board Or 75% Whichever is lower
