🥈 2nd Place: “Acoustic Guitar Body” Anyone who has worked with our super special tangent arcs knows they can be extremely difficult to make our solver happy with, and this project by @randyzwitch handled them beautifully. We also loved the use of equation-driven design and KCL-based feature sizing throughout the model. This was an incredibly strong technical submission that demonstrated a deep understanding of our sometimes finicky design workflows. Check it out in our Aquarium: zoo.dev/aquarium/621bc370-c2…

🐱 Best in Show: “Geometric Style Cat 3D” The undisputed community favorite. This adorable geometric cat by @ijihu282333 completely won over everyone’s hearts, and honestly, it feels a little serendipitous given our original company name was KittyCAD. Check it out in our Aquarium: zoo.dev/aquarium/43731778-c9…

🥇 1st Place: “Mersenne’s Clavichord” This project by @masonmalone took advantage of an incredible amount of the platform’s functionality, including custom string sizing via KCL, a highly unique software capability. It’s a reconstruction of a clavichord described by Marin Mersenne back in 1636. The submission includes KCL code using Mersenne’s Laws to calculate string sounding lengths and even supports two different temperaments. The technical depth, historical inspiration, and execution made this a standout across the board. Check it out in our Aquarium: zoo.dev/aquarium/8a3d0547-5a…

Getting my new 3D printer today, which is a huge step up from some bad news this morning (neighborhood-wise, not me personally)

manually creating models in ZDS is fun - you can jump between classic CAD UI and code. AI is sneaking even into this workflow though. sometimes I just ask what’s next, or what I forgot - and it nails it every time. tysm. btw you can check out this model in the aquarium: zoo.dev/aquarium/fcaf6b31-90…

Blockout of a turbojet turbine blade w the root, made with Zoo Design Studio. Another piece from our little project - an educational study model for kids. Creates mostly manually, with little help from AI to understand what are the options.
