A fact few know: the Republic of China, which currently only controls the island of Taiwan, does not recognize Mongolia as an independent country. It considers Outer Mongolia plus Inner Mongolia one of its provinces.
Saturday morning self-torturing with some logarithmic integrals. This alternating harmonic sum converges very slowly as ln^2(N)/N where N is the number of partial terms.
AI models are clueless on this one, but they are good at laborious manipulations if given clear instructions. Once I managed to reduce the integral to Lerch Transcendent and its derivatives, Qwen 3.7 finished the job. Kimi agent made the PDF note based on my handwritten scrip.
Here is a typical response when I asked AI models to do the integral. But Qwen can evaluate the Lerch Transcendent at specific points rather quickly. It does hallucinate sometimes and produce BS answers, which I have to check with other AI models like Kimi or DeepSeek.

Weekend Math: I was reading a section of my PhD thesis last night for some references and was stuck on an equation (eq. 5.19 below). Managed to figure it out over my morning coffee. So glad I can still understand wtf I was doing long ago. 🤔😊
China is the largest trading partner for most of the countries in the world. A prosperous world would buy more stuff from China, a world in recession is bad for everyone including China. Hence, it’s in China’s best interest to bail out the world. Win-win, not zero-sum.
China's is bailing out the global oil market:
Is Beijing coordinating with Washington?
Or is it taking care of itself, with the global benefit a byproduct?
My @Opinion column on China (May 7) is ⤵️. At the time, I didn't address the question above.
