I haven’t followed every step of the Peter Murrell/SNP scandal, but it’s quite right that people should be more generally aware of the absence or inadequacy of responsible financial management and accountability for money raised by crowdfunding for causes or for litigation

It’s three months since the government announced its reviewed decision not to pay any WASPI compensation. The primary deadline for a judicial review application has now expired. I’m not aware of one having been filed. So is this now the end of the doomed campaign, at long last?
By today every single woman in the WASPI cohort will have become eligible for a state pension on her 66th birthday. All younger men and women face higher state pension ages from now on. I do not believe the WASPI campaign will (or should) have any political salience in future

This form allows people to answer multiple times so likely to get totally false results. No Government is going to take this seriously unless you use a proper survey company that can ensure accuracy and allows non-campaigners to take part. Anecdotal evidence been done before.

This from @Geoffrey_Cox was titanic - a truly beautiful speech. He outshone those sat opposite. They could only watch. And nervously laugh. This should be seen by every new MP to understand what they do, & every new barrister to understand what we do.

This was one of the greatest speeches I’ve heard from today’s politicians. It was, as has been said, titanic. Please do listen to it. It is difficult to understand how anyone could have still felt, after hearing it, that removing a fundamental protection we all have against our often highly politicised State is the right thing to do. This will be a source of shame and embarrassment for the 304 MPs who chose to do so. But there are many more stages to go before it becomes law, and it is still possible therefore that some of the 304 will see sense and force the govt to yield.

I’ve written to every Member of Parliament today. Proposals before Parliament would remove jury trials from offences carrying up to three years in prison. Freedoms rarely vanish overnight. They are chipped away in the name of efficiency. Juries did not cause the crisis in our courts. Removing them will not fix it. When the state seeks to take someone’s liberty for serious offences, the judgment of ordinary citizens should never be optional. This is close to becoming law. Please read the letter. Contact your MP now.

And this is one of the reasons why the state pension being classed as a benefit is a GOOD THING 👇 if it wasn't, credits for childcare, caring, sickness, wouldn't count towards the qualifying years needed and lots of people would be much worse off.
It’s a benefit and it is possible to get full pension and not pay full contributions. I will only have paid contributions for 7 years but my 30 years as an unpaid carer mean that I will have full NI credits by the time I retire and I will receive a full pension.

It’s ridiculous flailing around. Mediation is a process of seeking a compromise between people who have a genuine negotiating position in prospective or pending litigation. These petitioners have no cause of action to litigate, and therefore no negotiating position either
