A redux of my 50 states thread (this time, with more of a focus on the people that make this country great)
30 Oct 2022
I'm going to make a thread showcasing the beauty of American cities and towns...

It’s almost a marvel how Britain’s dependency on American culture to keep its soft power afloat has been completely exposed by its bleak ass 21st century zeitgeist. Ever since the Britpop cope in the 90s, it’s been clinging to the 60s-80s

Strangely, the "Dissident Right" scene in America is surprisingly British-driven. Academic Agent, Morgoth, Millennial Woes, the Lotus Eaters crew, Aydin Paladin, and a few others drive much of the conversation that exists to the right of Tucker.

“Doing anything is bad. American culture and history should not be made to appear interactive, egalitarian, and cool, but should be made static and boring so we can effectively argue that America is decaying and make it look unappealing”

Watch (or re-watch) the movie “Idiocracy” and you might get a good idea why this is a little more than a bit cringe. Conservative here. I’m fine with these events but just not at the White House. FYI I had previously compared Obama’s private concerts at the White House as coming off like jesters performing for the royal court. Not a good look either.

As was said, the problem people have with this is not “it’s just a little tacky”, which it isn’t, it’s that it’s America doing it. If it was Britain or China or Japan it would be proof of a vital and cool culture that America couldn’t hope to have, but it’s America…

so we have to hear that it’s gauche or unbecoming or bad because it makes America look good, and they want America to look bad

The hate behind this can be summarized as “this boosts America’s soft power and makes it look more cool and appealing and that makes me angry on behalf of my poor, superior European friends”
"The UFC event captures something about this moment in our history. After all, it’s vulgar, it’s violent, it’s commercial, it’s grandiose, it’s tacky, and it dishonors a place once thought worthy of care and respect. In other words, it’s Donald Trump." open.substack.com/pub/thebul…

So far in 2026: We’ve had TEAM USA win Gold in hockey. We’ve had astronauts circling the moon. We’ve got the World Cup here. We have UFC at the White House. Everyone is getting skinny. We’re curing pancreatic cancer. It’s America’s 250th. AND YOU’RE BLACKPILLING?

I’m really curious as to why people have fallen for this stupidly obvious media pivot on Trump which is to adopt the air of “based conservatives” while talking about everything he supposedly “hasn’t done” in a faux-disappointed manner…

And most people don’t care because they hate America and only feel good about themselves.
