Not a “gringo.” Handle not chosen at random. Our immigration system isn’t “broken,” it’s dysfunctional, but works exactly as Congress intended!

My take on SCOTUS' decision in the Birthright Citizenship case: Roberts will split the proverbial baby. That’ll neither be a total loss for the administration nor the victory absolutists think they’ve won—the real question still won’t have been answered. amenablesandcollaterals.com/…

Thankfully, only 830 DACA recipients have, are, or ever contracted to serve in the U.S. military—0.1% of all aliens who’ve ever had DACA.
You’re generally correct except for between 2008 and 2016, when the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program allowed lawfully present aliens with a medical license or strategic language skills to join. It was expanded in 2014 to allow any DACA recipient.

Contrary to what Tran wants you to believe, the two aren’t the same. Further, suggesting they are somehow similar is precisely why maybe we should stop offering protection to Refugees.
My family opened a corner market where I worked every day after school. Fourteen years ago, DACA gave Dreamers the same chance to work, study, and build their lives in America. As the son of Vietnamese refugees, I know how much the promise of America means to immigrant families. It is sickening that the Trump administration has wrongfully deported over 150 DACA recipients. DACA recipients deserve permanent protections. I'll keep fighting for them in Congress. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

The explanation is accurate, the solution is not.
DACA was always meant to be a temporary fix as Congress created a permanent path to citizenship for Dreamers. End the uncertainty. Pass the Dream Act and make their protections permanent.

Behold, another Democrat politician breathlessly demonstrating their ignorance regarding what constitutes “[d]ue proces” for aliens in deportation proceedings. Hint: It isn’t sticking you with the bill for a lawyer who may not necessarily prevent them being ordered deported.
Four times I introduced amendments on the Appropriations Committee to ensure non-citizen veterans are not deported without legal counsel and a fair hearing. Four times Republicans voted them down by just a few votes. Veterans who served this country were denied basic due process protections by the slimmest of margins, while powerful private detention interests continue to profit from a system built on detention and deportation. Due process is not a privilege reserved for a few. It is a constitutional right.

Ugh, I can't believe that it's once again the anniversary of the "Exercising Proset¢orial Discretion with Respect to Individuals Who Came to the [U.S.] as Children" memo. That also means that the Sunday after next will be the seventh anniversary of the Regents decision. #EndDACA

Happiness is knowing that Dick will retire without any form of the DREAM Act having been passed. With any luck, may that continue until at least after his descent into Hell!
Since DACA was created, more than 835,000 Dreamers have come forward and received DACA so they can contribute more fully to their country as teachers, nurses, doctors, engineers, and small business owners. They have earned their right to remain in America.

If you've never looked at the list of DACA recipients by country before, I encourage you to take a minute to do so. Then, ask yourself why aliens from first-world countries in Europe and Asia "need" amnesty. I guarantee everything you think you know about DACA is probably wrong!
Replying to @SenatorDurbin
They've no "right" to stay in America and can go make their own countries great. Every one of their native countries would undoubtedly benefit from U.S.-educated "teachers, nurses, doctors, engineers, and small business owners", even the first-world ones. uscis.gov/sites/default/file…
