The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy. I truly love the job of being a United States Senator.
But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch.
So, I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my term.

I am pleased to announce that the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission has approved more than $10 million in funding to support the Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge & the Great Lakes Mallard II project. Our state’s natural beauty is worth preserving, and I’m grateful that the Commission recognized all that Illinois has to offer.

I joined @SenDuckworth & @RepEricSorensen in a letter to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and FRA Admin David Fink urging them to extend federal funding for the Chicago-Quad Cities passenger rail project. State, local, and rail partners are aligned, the project is fully funded, and through cooperation with the federal government, this project could finally be brought to fruition.
