Stargate should be bad but somehow it pushes against two of the biggest structural supports (racist pseudo archeology and military apologia) to deliver good semi mortality play episodes amidst a sea of "huh wouldnt that be fucked up if that happened?".
been watching Stargate and what an incredible series for many reasons but one is that they take the worst part of the original film (goofy ass racism against arabs) and just goes "eh lets spend three seasons to totally remove that element".
