Benjamin Pinckney Jr. knows exactly why he wants to become a PA — because a PA once saved his life. Today, Pinckney is a pre‑PA working toward that same path; but without access to federal graduate loans, he says PA school may be out of reach. His story is powerful, but not unique. "PA programs meet every element of the professional degree definition that Congress established in law," AAPA CEO Lisa Gables wrote in a statement. "We are in court to ensure the law is implemented as Congress intended."

AAPA and @PAEAonline have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education. The lawsuit challenges the Reimagining and Improving Student Education (RISE) rule, which excludes PA students from the higher federal loan limits for professional students. We are committed to protecting the future PA workforce and the patients who depend on it.
