6 yo at 6:30am: “It’s President’s Day, so I think I should be able to have a cookie for breakfast.” Not sure how he made that argument sincerely and with a straight face, though I do applaud his effort.

Last night, while I was stopped at a street corner, I made eye contact with @ThePaulGiamatti as he was waiting to cross. I smiled and waved as if he was a friend of mine. Thank you for being polite despite my awkwardness.

Wed: At work late. Home after all kids asleep. Felt guilty. Thurs: Left work as early as possible. Picked up all 3 boys from school. 5yo: why did you pick me up so early? 10yo: can you pick us up later next time? At least 2yo doesn’t talk back…yet!

Not the first time I’ve gotten the laughing “did you forget your name?” response, but it was the first time I decided to turn it into a teachable moment…slightly after the fact and via email, but still a significant step. The very receptive response was an added bonus

Dear @GStephanopoulos @ThisWeekABC @whignewtons, Let’s talk science. Masks reduce transmission of Covid. Masks do not cause learning or emotional loss. Signed, Pediatrician & Internist who takes care of Covid patients and a parent of 3 children
Replying to @ThisWeekABC
@ThisWeekABC pls explain why a political mag staff writer w/ NO medical/science/development-behavior qualifications gets to come on your show and spout lies about school #maskmandates claiming that “the only science” is that they are associated with learning and emotional loss./1

The gender pay gap is real and infuriating. Particularly in light of studies suggesting patient cared for by women may have better outcomes. #WomenInMedicine

Anybody have a cute photo of a pet that I could send to this journal? Or I suppose I could send a story of something funny my kids did.

Dropped our kids off at 1st day of school. Saw lots of kids of all ages really excited to see their friends. All were wearing masks (appropriately!) and none were complaining. Kids are the best of us. Thanks #CPS & #CTU for getting our kids back to school safely!

Well, I don’t have any agricultural-based manuscript prepared, so I must decline their offer…but I do appreciate the pun!

#EPeeps — another cool example of functional brady — this time in typical AFL. Atrial rate ~280bpm, then 2 levels of AV block (2:1 followed by 3:2, appearing as a “typical” grouped-beating Wenckebach pattern), then pulse deficit on the “early” beats. Effective HR = 45!
Great example of functional brady @ABeaser. Here's ICE imaging during bigeminy -- no aortic valve excursion with PVCs. (#EPeeps may also recognize the more subtle homage to Penn EP in this image @Dr_Santangeli @DrFerminGarcia @DavidCallans @rdschaller @Ed_Gerst)

Visited my 100-yr-old grandmother yesterday, (haven’t seen her in person in 22 months) & she was watching MSNBC (self-described politics junky). Later I asked her if she’s happier with the current president. Her response: “Yes! Much better than the last guy. He was a bitch!”

Great demonstration of why people may be symptomatic from PVCs without actually feeling palpitations. No pulsatility after PVCs means functional bradycardia. All better now thanks to @aalap and an ablator! @DrRoderickTung @Noozie2 @gauravaupadhyay @HNayakEP @JDMossMD
