The incidence of postoperative complications after oesophagectomy was nearly comparable between the Japanese and Dutch cohorts
Some remarkable differences were observed between cohorts regarding baseline characteristics, such as age, BMI, and histology, as well as the approach used for an intrathoracic anastomosis
These differences have to be taken into account when interpreting clinical studies from either Eastern or Western countries
