Fresco di stampa il nuovo rapporto @ADAPTland sulla contrattazione collettiva in Italia. Tante le novità, a partire da un ricco indice analitico che facilita non poco la lettura di oltre 400 pagine di dati e analisi. Grazie ai validi dottorandi che hanno collaborato al progetto

Congrats! Very interesting. Very fitting, too, in that #BruceKaufman has spent much of his career trying to translate Commons into English.
Here is a paper I wrote with #BruceKaufman (!!) for #InternationalJournalofLinguistics dealing with the translation of Commons’ ‘Industrial Goodwill’ into Italian. A nice example of interdisciplinary research, really made my day! bit.ly/35YGBsU

“We cannot take things, and specially institutions, at face value. A long preliminary analysis is necessary to agree about what exactly is going to be the object of common work”. #Farewell to Jacques Rojot, a leading figure in #comparativelabourlaw. He’ll be sorely missed.

#Telework and #Telecommuting lost their importance as they only emphasize 'tele' ('far' in Greek), i.e. the location element. More generally, #telework is avoided because it does not resonate with a 21st-century perception of technology (Messenger, 2019) bit.ly/3diGPfy

Agree. Sometimes they also use 'verifiable work requirements' or '... demonstrably necessary for work reasons' (a bit wordy if u ask me)
The Italian word "comprovate" has been causing headaches too. I think "proven" is one direct translation - before one delves into the realm of synonyms, that is.

The meaning of ’indifferibili esigenze lavorative’ has been the subject of a lively debate in Italy. Here are some examples of how this concept was translated into English in the international press #Covid19 #language #terminology #IRdiscourse

A superficial view of work is that it is basically a means to earn an income. This a limited view (today more than in the past). That of work is a many-sided concept going beyond earning income. See @JohnWBudd "The Thought of Work" amazon.com/gp/product/080147… @AdaptHigherEd #MustRead
