AFSCME Local 829 is a proud supporter of this bill. San Mateo County utilizes an antiquated two-tiered system to deny extra-help workers benefits. It must change.
🚫Cities/counties hire more temp workers instead of filling permanent positions, creating a two-tier system. #AB1484 to address this problem just PASSED its 1st policy committee! Proud to partner w/ @seiucalifornia on this critical bill. 🤝

#AFSCME829 and #SEIU521 members rallying on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at @sanmateoco Extra Help members work the same jobs as their FT coworkers but DO NOT receive the same benefits, work protections, or pay. It's a broken system that the County uses to save its bottom line.
