The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has urged more people – especially midwives, nursing associates and people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds – to complete its consultation on practice learning as it reaches the halfway mark. #NMC buff.ly/Vb7nzgH

On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, I'm honouring my extraordinary father, Ronnie Avery. He worked indefatigably on #DDay planning, as the vital Head of Section of Naval Intelligence for France, Holland & Belgium, & as HQ Establishment Officer to Lord Mountbatten. His close colleagues included Ian Fleming, Graham Greene and Kim Philby.

This is not, ‘above and beyond’, this is unacceptable ⬇️ Thank you for shining a light on community nurses @NurseinPractice
Nurses are sleeping in their cars before shifts, taking days off sick and even resigning in some cases because of unaffordable travel costs, a national nursing conference has heard. #Nurses #CommunityNurses #RCN buff.ly/S14xAZ1

How about introducing a Private Members Bill to provide equitable access to palliative care across England and Wales? Rather than starting with a Private Members Bill for Assisted Dying? The sequence would be hugely important, given that so many cannot access basic care.

Christian Legal Centre and Darlington nurses respond to government's publication of EHRC Code of Practice Andrea Williams, Chief Executive, Christian Legal Centre, which has supported the Darlington nurses from the beginning of their ordeal, said: “This Code of Practice confirms what should never have been in doubt: the law has always required the protection of single-sex spaces. Public bodies, including the NHS, have had a legal duty to comply, yet many have failed to do so, choosing instead to hide behind ‘awaiting guidance’ while pursuing unlawful policies. “We remain deeply concerned that, as Bridget Phillipson acknowledged in her February meeting with Christian nurse Jennifer Melle, this Code will not even extend to workplaces. That gap must not become another loophole for inaction. There can be no more delays. The law is clear and must now be implemented in full. “The Christian Legal Centre continues to support a number of brave healthcare professionals who have faced disciplinary action and discrimination simply for standing by the law and by biological reality. They should never have been put in this position.” Bethany Hutchison, Darlington nurse and President of the Darlington Nursing Union, said: “The publication of the EHRC Code of Practice must mark the end of delay and denial. The NHS and other public bodies should have been following the law, and the Supreme Court’s ruling, all along. ‘Waiting for guidance’ has been used as a smokescreen to avoid making the necessary changes and to prolong the imposition of radical, Stonewall-influenced gender identity policies that have placed both staff and patients in deeply difficult situations. There are now no excuses, no more smoke and mirrors. The law must be followed. “Frontline nurses have paid a heavy price for speaking up, and in Darlington we have seen first-hand the consequences of institutional failure. We now need urgent, system-wide reform to restore confidence, protect patient dignity, and ensure staff can carry out their duties without fear of reprisal.” christianconcern.com/cccases…

Thank you @UrbanHermit15 I hope the bees are enjoying our #NoMowMay lawn (we are certainly enjoying not mowing 😅) #WorldBeeDay 🐝
On World Bee Day I am grateful for these small but mighty creatures for playing a crucial role in keeping our meadows, woodlands, heathlands and hedgerows alive, flying incredible distances for pollen and nectar, pollinating trees and flowers as they go. Nearly 90% of wild flowering plants and more than 75% of food crops depend on animal pollination, making these creatures essential to the ecosystems and food systems we rely on every day. Yet, these vital pollinators are increasingly threatened by human activities. Protecting them means protecting biodiversity, food security, and the future of generations to come. World Bee Day, reminds us that protecting pollinators means protecting life itself. By caring for bees, we nurture nature, strengthen food systems, and help build a more sustainable and hunger-free world. Remembering in prayer on this day Brother Adam Kerhle OSB (1898 - 1996) of Buckfast Abbey, a world authority on bee keeping and breeding.

Wonderful 🎶😅 Thank you for sharing @UrbanHermit15 ☺️
As the old Cole Porter lyric declares, “Anything Goes” and that certainly seems to capture my experiences this week in the world of the Livery Companies. In spite of the rather unsettled national political atmosphere, everything appears to be flourishing splendidly, far removed from Noël Coward’s wry warning that there are “bad times just around the corner.” Last evening, I had the pleasure of attending a delightful Livery Concert at Mercers’ Hall, featuring the inspiring song-and-piano duo George and The Dragon. George Robarts and Edward Picot-Turbervill delivered a superb programme of classic music hall songs filled with wit, satire, and charm, ranging from the works of Porter and Coward to the wonderfully comic lyrics of Victoria Wood. I thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of fellow Masters, Chaplains, and consorts, and was especially impressed by the imaginative inclusion of all 114 Livery Companies of the City of London within the evening’s entertainment.
