Iran launched multiple one-way attack drones in an attempt to strike commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces have downed all of them in recent hours as traffic flow through the strait continues unimpeded. The international trade corridor remains open for transit.

Thank you @JDVance! Relying on Iranian regime state media for facts is a fool’s errand. 🇺🇸
I'm seeing a lot of fake information about a potential deal to reopen the Strait and end Iran's nuclear weapons program. First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region. This deal has the potential to remake the region and lead to lasting peace. I've noticed a couple of bizarre things in the reporting over the last few hours. First, people who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports. Second, people who say you can't trust a word said by the IRGC who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts. The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other.

I am very glad to hear from @POTUS that Iranian media reports about the so-called deal are fake because the deal as described by Iran would be awful. President Trump and our military deserve a lot of credit for making Iran the weakest they’ve been since 1979 through a combination of highly effective military strikes and a crushing blockade. However, we must remember the Iranian regime has killed 42,000 of their own people for simply wanting a better life, and their leadership are radical religious Nazis.  As to any potential deal, it must be compared to the JCPOA, and I am hopeful that it will be vastly different. The idea of a $300 billion reconstruction fund, given who is in charge of Iran, seems to be tone deaf. It would be akin to a Marshall Plan for Germany with the Nazis still in charge. That wouldn’t have been a good idea then, and any reconstruction fund that benefits this terrorist regime wouldn’t be a good idea now. As to the Iranian nuclear program, President Trump’s red line has been no enrichment. I hope that holds — as it must. Allowing Iran to enrich under the JCPOA was one of the major flaws of that terrible deal. As I’ve stated before, any deal with Iran must come to Congress for scrutiny and approval.

Today’s 3 1 Energy Ministerial Dialogue, bringing together #Cyprus, #Greece, #Israel and the #USA, as well as the launch of the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center in Houston, constitute a development of particular political and geostrategic significance. At a time when energy security has become a critical factor for the stability and resilience of states, the Eastern Mediterranean is assuming ever greater importance. Cooperation among the four countries establishes a stable framework for dialogue and coordination, aimed at harnessing the region’s energy potential, strengthening connectivity and developing common approaches to emerging challenges. The launch of the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center #EMEC gives this cooperation even greater substance and a more practical dimension. It establishes a permanent mechanism, based in Houston, one of the world’s leading energy hubs, which can serve as a point of reference for the exchange of expertise, the development of joint initiatives, closer cooperation with the academic and business communities and the advancement of implementable solutions. These efforts can deliver shared benefits for the 3 1 countries and for regional partners, within the broader framework of advancing strategic multilateralism. The Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center is linked to the implementation of a provision of the 2019 Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Partnership Act. Today, that same strategic direction is gaining renewed momentum through the Eastern Mediterranean Gateway Act, which promotes the Eastern Mediterranean as a strategic bridge connecting #Europe, the #MiddleEast and #India, with explicit reference to the importance of Cyprus, the 3 1 framework and critical regional infrastructure. This continuity carries particular political significance. It demonstrates that the upgrading of relations between 🇨🇾🇺🇸 is part of a coherent strategy that is steadily acquiring greater institutional depth, concrete instruments and practical substance. Our geographic position is important. Its true value, however, is enhanced by our credibility, the partnerships we build and our consistent presence wherever developments are shaped. 🇨🇾🇬🇷🇮🇱🇺🇸

J Street is free to lobby for downgrading the alliance and weakening both the U.S. and Israel. I wouldn’t expect anything different, because that is what the organization does. And therefore that is what the organization is. I’d rather they be honest about their own motivations, but they shouldn’t begrudge the honesty of their critics. commentary.org/seth-mandel/j…

I hope we have in fact reached a diplomatic solution to end the Iranian conflict that will meet President Trump’s red lines and be fundamentally different from the JCPOA. As in the past, any agreement reached with Iran related to their nuclear program will be presented to Congress for review and approval. I look forward to that process.
