Water-based aviation has taken off in Andhra Pradesh! Enjoyed an inaugural seaplane journey from Vijayawada’s Prakasam Barrage to Srisailam. This flight marks a new milestone for Andhra Pradesh, adding a new dimension to our aviation landscape. The swift 45-minute service will enhance tourism, employment, and improve access to destinations like Srisailam’s ancient Shiva temple, Tiger Reserve, and the iconic dam.
Seaplanes are used for more than just tourism. They are also used for emergency services and transportation. India's UDAN Scheme 3.0 & 3.1 aims to expand seaplane tourism, with Prakasam Barrage listed as a key water aerodrome by Ministry of Civil Aviation. Plans are underway to extend water aerodromes, connecting even more scenic and remote areas across Andhra Pradesh.
