The letter subject is: Arkansas maternal Health Crisis and the body is: Our Central Arkansas birth community is suffering. Women and babies are experiencing trauma and dying. We need birth centers, better midwifery integration into our healthcare system (more options) and in the meantime to have doulas allowed back in to support our clients. These are evidence based solutions to some of our problems and have been implemented in other states. We are being ignored by the hospitals, department of health and the governors office. Large churches are meeting in person, school is about to start and yet certified private pay doulas aren't permitted to accompany laboring women. This is leading to unnecessary interventions, surgeries, trauma and in some cases leading women to choose birthing unattended at home - a very dangerous choice. Help us, please.

These insights seem to be no-brainers: Pregnant women should get as much rest, and as much support from their partners, as possible. Employers and governments should create generous rules about maternity and paternity leave that starts before birth trib.al/3M6CRWM
