The World Cup isn’t until next year, and some of these teams aren’t even in it…

At [insert rugby refereeing society], we don’t call ourselves referees. We are ex-players who are too decrepit to play anymore and want to ruin the game for one team and their supporters (other than the young thrusters, who might be quite good). Did I do it right?
“At Old Sulians, we don’t call ourselves a rugby club. We are drinking and communal singing enthusiasts who own a field”: Ron Bollard, CEO Old Sulians.

Despite only following rugby accounts, all I’m getting is Iran, petrol prices, the Falklands… I only react to rugby post, so why is this shit on my feed @X

Often see comments about this scenario, calling for the drop kick to be disallowed as it’s taken a couple of metres in-field from the line of the try, but it’s allowed to be (law 8.12).

Here is the relevant law, that states that if the ball falls off the tee, rolls away from the line through where the try was scored, and the kicker then drop kicks it, then the conversion stands.

It’s not a common sight, but when this situation happens, it will often result in the kicker taking a few steps infield to be able to drop kick the ball. x.com/rugbyontnt/status/1845…

Quick thinking from George Barton for an incredible conversion 🤯 #GallagherPrem | #GLOvBAT

There is NO Head Injury Assessment (HIA) in community rugby!! I recently watched the @benyoungs09 @BBCSport documentary “How Safe is Rugby” and noted some potentially misleading comments on junior rugby concussion protocols. A first aid leader stated: “Much like a HIA in the professional game, we follow the same guidance.” This simply isn’t accurate and can lead to confusion. There is NO HIA in community rugby-including juniors, amateurs, and national leagues.

The fact that it wasn’t dangerous is why it was a penalty only, and no red/yellow card. It’s an illegal act, and the degree of danger is often determined by chance (does the player land on the other’s leg, is the foot trapped, etc).

I spoke with amateur rugby referee @mattgroves about some of the decisions in this week's 6 Nations. We dive into some listener questions and explain fully why Menoncello’s pass to Lynagh wasn’t forward. tinyurl.com/4yrcnfx2 #6Nations #rugby #refreview #rugbyreferee

Great photo, but debatable legality The video shows the Italian lifters throwing him up and making no effort to catch him (lifters must lower the catcher safely).
Incredible height from Italy on the lineout leading into the first Lynagh try

I spoke with amateur rugby referee @mattgroves about some of the decisions in the first week of the 6 Nations and explain fully why Ramos’s catch was a perfectly good mark. tinyurl.com/42tf5cyd What do you think? #6Nations #rugby #refreview #rugbyreferee

TLDR - Ramos’ juggled catch last night was a valid mark. The requirement for a mark to be from a clean catch was removed from the Laws of the Game in 2018.
⚖️ Law discussion: Was Thomas Ramos' 'juggling' catch a fair mark and will we see more of it? #GuinnessM6N #FRAvIRE ✍️ @jaredwright17

In the spirit of sharing, so far this season as a ref I’ve been accused of being a cheat, being blind, and just being a shit ref. This is why we have a shortage of referees. I haven’t had it too bad yet, but too many referees are getting to the point that they can’t continue.

This is every grassroots referee at some point (I have no idea what happened).

Blue looks like he’s picking up the ball, rather than grounding it, so it’s not a GLDO. Then the Black player flies in and it looks like he pushes down on the ball with his hand/wrist, so I would award the try.
😲 Try for the Sharks. Right call?
