As we celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week, I'm proud to recognize the tremendous impact recreational fishing has on Florida's economy and way of life. In Florida's 12th Congressional District alone, more than 210,000 anglers contribute $443 million in fishing-related spending, supporting nearly 3,000 jobs, generating $459 million in economic activity, and contributing $30 million in state and local tax revenue. This year, I'm also encouraged by the American Sportfishing Association's inaugural Million Pound Challenge - an ambitious effort to remove one million pounds of trash from our rivers, lakes, beaches, and waterways. By protecting our natural resources today, we can ensure future generations continue to enjoy the great outdoors and the world-class fishing opportunities that make Florida so special. Thank you to all the anglers, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts who help support our economy and preserve our waterways. Happy National Fishing and Boating Week!
