ما، @AAIRIA_org، در تاریخ ۵ ژانویه ۲۰۲۶ نامه‌ای رسمی و مفصل به انجمن مطالعات خاورمیانه @MESA_1966 و به رهبری این انجمن و کمیته آزادی آکادمیک آن @CAF4MESA ارسال کردیم. در این نامه از «انجمن مطالعات خاورمیانه» خواستیم که درباره‌ی دفاع علنی خود از خانم دکتر قلابی شیرین سعیدی شفاف‌سازی کند و به مسائل عمیق اخلاقی‌ای که پرونده او برای قربانیان و بازماندگان خشونت حکومتی در ایران ایجاد کرده است، به‌طور عکس العمل درخور نشان دهد. این اقدام ما از سر حسن نیت بود؛ دعوتی برای گفت‌وگو، شفافیت و پاسخ‌گویی میان جامعه مدنی و نهادهای دانشگاهی. با این حال، تا امروز، بیش از یک ماه پس از ارسال نامه، MESA پاسخی به ما نداده است. در همین میان، نامه مورخ ۲۰ ژانویه ۲۰۲۶ MESA خطاب به دولت جمهوری اسلامی ایران درباره سرکوب خونین معترضان، زمانی صادر شد که هنوز وسعت واقعی سرکوب‌های رژیم آشکار نشده بود. از آن زمان روشن شده است که ایران شاهد بزرگ‌ترین و مرگبارترین سرکوب معترضان در تاریخ معاصر خود بوده است؛ با بازداشت‌های گسترده، کشتارهای فراگیر و شواهد معتبری از ارتکاب جنایت علیه بشریت. گزارش نهادهای مستقل نشان می‌دهد که بیش از ۳۰٬۰۰۰ شهروند غیرنظامی جان خود را از دست داده‌اند. در چنین شرایطی، واکنش MESA همچنان حداقلی و ناکافی است. فقط یک نامه رسمی و حساب‌شده صادر شد، بدون هیچ تعامل، توضیح یا ارزیابی مجدد پس از آشکار شدن ابعاد خشونت و سرکوب. بسیاری از ایرانیان، به‌ویژه بازماندگان، خانواده‌های قربانیان و زنانی که زیر نظام آپارتاید جنسیتی زندگی می‌کنند، انتظار داشتند که این انجمن دانشگاهی که مدعی دفاع از اخلاق، کرامت انسانی و مسئولیت علمی است، واکنشی قوی‌تر، اصولی‌تر و ماندگارتر نشان دهد. سکوت و بی‌عملی نیز خود انتخاب‌اند. وقتی نگرانی‌های مشروع با حسن نیت مطرح می‌شوند و بی‌پاسخ می‌مانند، و زمانی که شواهد انبوه خشونت با خویشتنداری و نه با فوریت مواجه می‌شود، طرح این پرسش به‌حق است که: صدای چه کسانی بازتاب داده می‌شود، و چه کسانی جا گذاشته می‌شوند؟ @MESAGA2019 @ASMEASCHOLARS @Scholars4Peace @UArkansas @UARKMEST @Cambridge_Uni @chronicle @KJNBNews @arkansasnews @nwademgaz @ArkansasOnline
