Ketamine versus propofol for sedation in acute psychiatric emergencies during aeromedical retrieval: a randomized controlled trial. Dr Nicholas George. @MyCareFlight
What a phenomenal privilege teaching with @ATACCFaculty has been this weekend… a tiring but brilliant first course ‘on the other side’… thank you to faculty, staff, and candidates for a great time.
Just one month to go. I am really looking forward to the September 2025 atacc course. I think this is my 10th as faculty.
For anyone considering the course, please have a listen to the attached podcast. Cliff Reid and Brian Burns, both eminent pre-hospital care pre-hospital care physicians in Australia describe their experience as candidates.

It’s time to hang up the uniform after nearly 32 years; today is my last day in the Royal Navy.
I joined the Royal Navy to see the world and I’ve certainly done that 1/
Very easy to be inspiring when one has had such inspiration
The message to those dedicating themselves to the development of emergency medicine:
Make everything you do about the PATIENT, not the SPECIALTY
That is the Emergency Medicine we learned from John Hinds

Another #ATACC course comes to an end! The teams were elite as always, and the faculty were second to none per usual. A special one for me as I was formally inducted as a full faculty member. A massive honor to be a part of this incredible group!

A rather belated #skywatch from the weekend when some of the @ATACCFaculty and the @ATACCGroup went to do some training for the @fia medical delegates.
In addition to his accomplishments as a physician, Dr. Abernethy has been an EMT, steelworker, metallurgical engineer, military aircrew and flight surgeon, wildlife rehabilitator, grandfather, and bypass surgery survivor.
“I'm one of the lucky ones who never thought about anything else as a career in medicine.”
Dr. Mike Abernethy (@FLTDOC1) has been a board-certified emergency physician for over 30 years. He has arguably transported more patients by air than any other physician in the world. 🧵
Taking this further, it is being increasingly recognised (about time!) that cardiac arrest is not a single ‘disease’. Rather, it’s a spectrum of many heterogeneous aetiologies that a one size fits all, arbitrary algorithm is not sufficient to approach it
I am also hugely excited about the future as I begin my career with @YorkshireAirAmb as Clinical Lead - Research and Clinical Innovation
Working alongside @bagsomepeaks and @Kangaroosteve to deliver world class HEMS to the people of Yorkshire
End of an era @EastAngliAirAmb as I finish my final shift 😢
Excited for the @EAAARAID conference today with my amazing colleagues
What a fantastic experience this has been!
20h of travel back to Australia = lots of time to reflect on my first #ATACC as an IC. The candidates absolutely smashed it and the faculty are second to none - I’m so honored to be part of this group. Eternally grateful to @FLTDOC1 & @DrewCathers for introducing me to this world!
