"India doesn't need to lead in building advanced AI" this isn't humility, Nandan ji. It's resignation dressed as strategy.
We taxed GPU imports. Starved researchers of compute. Celebrated UPI as if a payments stack = a semiconductor stack. The fundamentals were never built.
And a govt burning surplus on freebies and loan waivers has no dry powder for decade-long research bets. Patient capital doesn't survive 5-year electoral cycles.
India's edge in using AI is real. But using becomes permanent dependency if we never learn to build. Every country that outsourced manufacturing said the same thing. We know how that ended.
