Chances are, you've come across this paper by my Ph.D. student, Leonard (@Leonardgeol) in @PNASNexus, made it to front page of @nytimes. Initially dismissed by @ScienceAdvances with a reviewer labeling it "GIS exercise." Underlying lesson resonates profoundly: never allow a single individual to define your identity or determine your value.

We have developed a probabilistic reconstruction of vertical land motion (VLM) from 1995 to 2020, which reveals the effects of spatially and temporally varying vertical land motion on relative sea level on a global scale (nature.com/articles/s41561-0…).
