The Normandy Landings happened 80 years ago today in which we played a significant role. We contributed 110 ships and 10,000 sailors in support of the landings. On D-Day, Canadians suffered 1074 casualties, including 359 killed. #CanadaRemembers #DDAY80

#OTD in 1917, SS Mont-Blanc and Imo collided in the narrows of the Halifax Harbour causing the world’s largest pre-nuclear explosion. Over 1600 lost their lives and around 9000 people were injured and homeless. These photos are a sample of Halifax Explosion photos at the museum.
