Journey’s “Only the Young” plays as Louden Swain runs across multiple bridges spanning the Spokane River during the opening credits of VISION QUEST. Director Harold Becker used these bridges as a metaphor for his coming-of-age story where crossing a body of water symbolizes transition, rebirth, and leaving the past behind.

THE SANDMAN IS COMING FOR YOUR EYES! E.T.A. Hoffmann's terrifying story of "The Sandman" (1816) is evoked with unnerving menace by Stanislav Sokolov’s stop-motion puppet animation feature, HOFFMANIADA.
Deluxe edition copies still available, but supplies are getting low!

One of my favorite moments from Episode 1 of Hanging with Becky.
Writer and filmmaker, @davidbooher and I talk about how impressed we are with Gen Z and the incredible young filmmakers who are changing the future of storytelling.

"A Black & White Film" (1984, 19 min.) Stanislav Sokolov’s early stop-motion gem follows a man who drifts away from his own party and into memories of his childhood days. A bittersweet, Proustian Madeline of coiled memory that astounds with its sophisticated meta-textual editing while pulling us into a deep undertow of melancholy. We sigh wistfully and shake our heads, but we fail to untangle ourselves from the misdeeds and missed opportunities of the past. A stunning, emotional work of stop-motion animation.
"A Black & White Film" is included on the Blu-ray of HOFFMANIADA, available for pre-order at deafcrocodile.com#deafcrocodile#bluray#hoffmaniada#soyuzmultfilm#stopmotionanimation
