Arda’s founders, CEO @Adam_M_Freund and CTO Rémi Laberge, joined the @BioAgePodcast to explore Arda's cutting-edge approach to treating chronic diseases. Adam and Remi discussed Arda’s origin and shared how the company's single-cell-based discovery platform pinpoints pathogenic cells in conditions like fibrosis, allowing for targeted cell depletion instead of traditional pathway modification. They described the challenges and opportunities inherent to applying the immune-oncology toolbox to non-oncology diseases, and outlined their vision for antibody-based therapeutics that could offer long-lasting effects with intermittent dosing, improving patient quality of life and paving the way for future applications in aging.
This week, we talk with the founders of @Arda_Tx about their innovative approach to developing therapeutics: eliminating the pathogenic cell types that drive chronic disease. Episode: player.captivate.fm/episode/…

Help save the Dog Aging Project. Despite being one of the most influential, productive and impactful NIH supported projects over the past 5 years, the National Institute on Aging has inexplicably chosen to withdraw support for the Dog Aging Project. For now, I’m won't get into the details of the process or my personal feelings about it, as the important thing is to ensure the Dog Aging Project doesn’t end. If you believe that the Dog Aging Project has value and should continue, I have three requests of you: (1) Please consider signing the petition to the NIH Director here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/… (2) Please consider sending an email to your elected representatives here: actionnetwork.org/letters/su… (3) Please share this message with your network as broadly as you can Thank you!!!

In the short story “Harrison Bergeron”, Vonnegut describes an earpiece radio that broadcasts a loud noise every 20 seconds or so in order to destroy people’s ability to think clearly. 👇

I remember reading that story in high school and thinking “that wouldn't work, people would just wait until the sound stopped and pick up their train of thought where they left off”. And now I have young children. And, I realize, so did Vonnegut. And we both know better.

Arda's team is expanding! We've opened two new computational roles: a computational biologist and a data engineer. Bring your single cell analysis chops and help us make drugs that target cells, not pathways. ardatx.notion.site/ardatx/Jo….

Our preprint is now published in eLife (lnkd.in/gMPW7njr)! This is the culmination of a project I started @calico, to create a system for preclinical testing of aging interventions at scale, (1/8)

We're proud of what we built here, but by no means is it the only system that can be used to measure organismal aging. What's more important than the exact sensors used is the high dimensional, automated framework. (7/8)

As I've argued before (sciencedirect.com/science/ar…), this framework is key to shaking off the "what is 'real' aging?" mindset and identifying interventions with the biggest impact on overall health and highest likelihood of clinical translation. (8/8)
