During the 2011 mass protests for "social justice," a kind of israeli Occupy moment using the same slogans as in Cairo, we would march with Palestinian flags and actually defend ourselves from the "leftists" assaulting us. But eventually the police would arrest the flag-bearers.
In the early 2000s, during the 2nd Intifada, the Israeli "left" used to do those useless "anti-occupation"/"peace" mass-rallies in Tel Aviv, with boring speeches and awful music. At the end of the rallies, the crowd used to stand and sing the Israeli national anthem.
Me and my friends had a habit of coming to those demonstrations with our own anti-Zionist messages. And whenever the crowd started singing HaTikva, we would all sit on the floor and start chanting "Zionism is racism". For that, we've gotten beaten-up again and again by Israel's "most moral" bleeding hearts.
We got kicked, stomped and punched by pretty much every group across the "Zionist Left" spectrum - Labor and Meretz activists, people from the "Movement for Quality Government", "Zionist-Socialist" youth movement seniors, Peace Now fascists and even reservist "refusers" (they refused to serve - but only in the West Bank).
Nowadays, the entire "Israeli Left" is even more racist, genocidal and violent than it was 25 years ago.
