A lot of great feedback and discussion about yesterday's post of game reviews and weird games. Was fun! Two thoughts ... 1. There are so many ways for a customer to find out if they want a game or not. For me, watching on Twitch is enough. Pro reviews are a bit obsoleted, sadly. 2. I still think we need good critics who can pick apart games constructively. This helps the art form for everybody.
New Blog Post: The Sad Unusability of Video Game Reviews. There is a way that pro reviewers can be helpful. It just doesn't work for video games. Even if there were reliable reviewers. Which there is not. So just use Steam refunds a lot! (Link in reply.)

Made my first "game" in RPG Maker. to see that the old forum is getting "Alexandria'd" does leave a bitter taste. Though i find no interest in it anymore, I respect those who want to preserve such knowledge.
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback to help protect the community and everyone’s important assets. We are currently working on how to archive the community assets from RPG Maker Forums. We will do our best to provide an update as soon as possible.

I'm in the last 5-6 years of my paid software development career. As the end gets closer, the chances increase that whatever I haven't learned by now, I'll never need. Maybe I did need it and didn't know. It won't matter to me.

This game was a blast to revisit for the review. My best friend showed me this hidden gem as a kid, and it still holds up today. If you have the chance, check it out.
Data East's Werewolf: The Last Warrior for the NES is a hidden gem with satisfying combat and gorgeous cinematic cutscenes that push the 8-bit hardware to its limits. Find out if this game is worth rising from its grave. 🐺

Atlantean 2 is here lol
This Thai developer is making a post-apocalyptic submarine shmup with metroidvania-style exploration, where you blast through sunken cities battling 20 colossal machine-hybrid sea monsters with a great look! It's called Earth Atlantis 2, do you want to play?

Replying to @RoseMarieAnon
I can play anything. I found this game called the Granstream Saga and the 3D models have no faces in it.

Games without discovery are pointless. Throw me into a game and let me find things out. What is the point of having everything explained and shown? I can just let the game play itself and do something else in the meantime.
Game devs spent 30 years getting rid of friction. Discovery was one of the casualties.

Video games are starting to look like those fake games people play in movies.
Fable NPC system is so sophisticated the devs are calling it a "life simulator" You build reputation through your actions in the game, then each NPC has a different opinion of you based on your reputation. You might have to become a rich business owner to impress and date one of the NPCs in the game, but another NPC will hate you for being so rich. As a consequence, that NPC could increase the prices on their merchandise when you visit their store. Even small actions such as giving money to the homeless or evicting people out of their houses will impact your reputation, and this can be done at a very large scale, because you could: - Buy every home in the world of Fable - Evict everyone out of their homes - Have every NPC now live on the street Possibilities are quite literally endless here

Final Fantasy Resonance details from Producer Keisuke Nakashima and Director Hiroto Furuya: - First proposal was made in 2020. - Thought it would be a shame for such a wonderful game to become unplayable via mobile. - It was high time to create a Final Fantasy title with pixel graphics and classic turn-based combat. - Main story of Resonance is based on the story of the 1st Season of FFBE. - Hope players will say, “This is the Final Fantasy we’ve been waiting for.” - Normal difficulty poses a challenge. About the same difficulty as Octopath Traveler. - Not a super high-difficulty game. - Random Encounters, but encounter rates are lower in dungeons that feature a lot of puzzles. - Believes Final Fantasy Resonance has achieved a level of quality that’s fitting for a new entry in the series of pixel-art-styled Final Fantasy games. automaton-media.com/en/inter…

This is absolute vandalism of resources essential to the RPG Maker development community. The FAQ suggests we save posts we want to keep - but I can't save posts which would help me solve problems I haven't encountered yet. @RPGmakerweb this is a mistake.
RPGMaker publishers are taking down the RPGMakerWeb forums. It's disgusting and insulting, these decisions from nameless corporate entities to destroy decades of resources and history that was build up by the RPGMaker community.
