While the weather is cooperating today, not all past Veterans Days had blue skies. Do you remember just four years ago, when Iowa and Illinois had 3-5" of snow and temperatures in the teens? Snow & cold records were broken from Quad Cities to Chicago!

For the lower Midwest, only ~10% of all last 28F freeze dates occur later than mid-to-late- April. We're still a ways off from the "latest last freeze" but venturing into rare territory. Explore historical last Spring freeze dates w/ the Freeze Date Tool mrcc.purdue.edu/freeze/freez…

I can't remember a week in April when the entire state had exactly no measurable precipitation. Quite a rarity in Illinois. #ilwx

Thank you for the heads up @NWSIndianapolis w/ the Special Weather Statement. Got inside just in time. Strong winds blew down neighbors mailbox, brief pea-size hail at about 2:15pm inNW Tippecanoe Co.
Haboob in Iowa…makes me think of @lprokopy @jscarlton & the entire U2U crew traveling to the annual meeting! Fond memories 🫶

Time lapse from my dash camera of the #Haboob in northwestern Iowa Thursday evening. Moving at 70mph, it was not something to really chase. Just sat and got rolled by it. Didn't think my first haboob would be in Iowa, ha. #IAwx
