The use of Robots in Agriculture is exponentially growing worldwide. We are testing some of these technologies simulating different outputs, crop spacing, and crop height. With the results we will be able to provide some guidance on the best settings to use for each crop.

Spent the past few days testing and calibrating some of the new equipment for the #2024 Research. Will work from fruit and veg mechanization, robotics, and spraying technologies up quality and yield prediction using UAVs. Unfortunately had a cloudy time for one of the flights.

Yesterday we kicked off a really important project for our team. We were evaluating the use of a conventional plug-root vegetable transplanter adapted for bare-root onion transplanting, and the impacts that the transplanting quality can cause on onion quality and yield.

In Platte County, @MelligerBrent, @AgTechLuan, and @AgNeb_Bruno are studying how different sidedress nitrogen ramps and biological products affect marginal net return in furrow irrigated and center pivot irrigated corn systems.🌾 #onfarmresearch #growingresults

It is always exciting to kick off the seasonal drone flights! This year I will test the effectiveness of drone stand counts. How accurate is it, and how much time it can save? Stay tuned! @UNLExtension

Tell me you love the work you do without saying a word. After two days of field work, got back to my office and found this hand written thank you cards and letters from the kids I was teaching about #agtech few days ago. There’s no money in the world that can pay for this.

Basic planter settings as speeds and downforce are sometimes under estimated on new planters, but it can decrease planting quality when it comes to seed placement and seed bed formation. Thanks to the @NESoybeanBoard we will be able to answer some questions for NE Growers!
Today, we (@AgTechLuan and @RyanLoseke) planted the last precision planting on-farm research plot. We are testing different planter's speed (5, 7, 10 mph) and downpressure (0, 100, 150, 200 lb). Looking forward to seeing the impact of these planter's setting on soybean emergence

#Water application #uniformity is very important when it comes to crop production. Check out our latest #smartmachinery post about how we are measuring the uniformity of low-maintenance and old center pivots and how it can impact yields.
Low uniformity of water application of center pivots can cause yield and economic losses. Our latest smart machinery article shows some of the findings we are getting from a catch-can test conducted in a few pivots located in Nebraska. Check that out at go.unl.edu/pivotuniformity
