Manatees are #seagrass specialists meaning they are largely dependent on healthy seagrass beds for their survival.
The depletion of seagrass beds have led to many cold-stressed, emaciated #manatees 😭

Manatees Unusual Mortality Event (UME) is a pressing issue. Florida Fish & Wildlife reports 649 manatee deaths so far, more than all deaths in 2020. This is happening for a variety of water quality issues and depletion of sea grass beds. #WetTribe #TidetotheOcean #ManateeMonday
