The Second Vatican Council is a product of the First Vatican Council. If you want to reject V2, you should reject V1; but most radtrads and sedes won’t do that.

Some of the chatter about Prince George going to Eton is so dumb; it's a curse of following the royals that one inevitably will see endless stupid comments about them. Personally I am not scandalised that a future king is going to attend an elite school founded by King Henry VI.

This forty year old interview with the then Cardinal Ratzinger seems like out of another world now. The Bergoglian revolution has completely buried the tendency of "Novus Ordo Conservatism". He was beyond any doubt the best mind and one of the very few respectable personalities

Benedict XVI's hermeneutic of continuity, and his opposition to ultramontanism were a valiant effort to rescue the ultramontane church from itself. We can see how his ousting from office was a most fatal event in history.

Francis literally taught that all baptized Christians are part of the same body thereby schism is impossible. Ultramontane theology has endless contradictions.
Protestants, Orthodox and Anglicans: ‘We’re already one!’ Traditional Catholics: ‘You’re leaving the Church!’

The comparison between the Synod of Pistoia and Vatican 2 that Blanchard pushes in his book presupposes a very specific interpretation of the text that is not demonstrated in practical implementation. Pistoia pushed Christocentrism in liturgy, moral rigorism, patristics.

Any similarities between Vatican II Catholicism and Jansenism is just the former wearing parts of the latter like a skin suit, just as any recourse to "primitive practices" like Communion in the hand now omits other well documented characteristics of the early Church

The Pistoians were also very driven to end superstitious practices. Can you see that in the Novus Ordo mass when the Roman Court is approving pagan novelty? The Chinese Rites Controversy is now Vatican policy.

As to the "religious liberty", it was more of a call to religious tolerance under the law than a call for secularization following the Belgian model which is the closest match for Dignitatis Humanae.

My favorite conservative Catholic cope on this is: "He will talk to Anglicans, Lutherans, Muslims etc. because they don't claim to be loyal Roman Catholics." Basically, "I would talk to you if you denied more ecumenical councils, sorry. One is rookie numbers."
BREAKING: Pope Leo on the SSPX consecrations — “I am considering making another appeal and saying ‘don't do this, let's try to live the communion of the Church.’ But it is their choice. We must realize what it means for them and for the Church. Certainly, the division among Christians is a painful point. However, they refuse to accept some fundamental elements of the Church, starting with several points of the Second Vatican Council. If they make that choice, I am sorry. But we must move forward”

I have been called Protestant and Old Catholic yet I always max out at agreeing with Trent.
Things I have been called: 1. An agent of the devil 2. Possessed by a devil 3. Jansenist/Crypto-Calvinist/Crypto-Anglican 4. Zoophile 5. A latter day Beza 6. Gay 7. Heretic

Yet another ultramontane Archbishop promoting the masonic creed. It never ends.
Detroit's Archbishop Weisenburger BLASTED for claiming that all churches, mosques and synagogues are sacred places. “This is a truly wonderful and sacred place… a place that I believe will bring all of humanity into deeper communion with our one God.”

The loss of the Papal States is quite fittingly called the passion of the Holy See. But it's not Ultramontane Catholicism that suffered, which is more delusional and powerful than ever, but rather the ancient faith itself. May God restore liberty to the Holy See.
Ultramontantism in the 19th century on the other hand was pure and simply ‘slop Catholicism’ that was permeated through cheap popular media, postcards, newspapers and dubious apparitions and pilgrimages. Am I saying this was all bad? Of course not, but it needs to be understood as itself a novelty of the 19th century print and transportation culture.

Yes, they both could be wrong -- the German bishops who bless homosexual unions could be wrong, and the SSPX who will consecrate bishops without papal mandate could be wrong. Thing is, if the Germans don't get excommunicated for promoting intrinsic evil -- and the SSPX does, just for trying to preserve the Catholic Faith -- then the Vatican itself provides the necessary proof of a state of emergency severe enough to warrant extraordinary measures by the SSPX to preserve the Catholic Faith, as provided for in the Code of Canon law. In the modern Church schism is worse than heresy because as long as the real estate & bank accounts are in order actual beliefs and practices are negotiable.

Total W for Antoine Arnauld and the followers of Port Royal. We reject the ultramontane practice of Frequent Communion.
Traditionalists often highlight the most absurd abuses in the Novus Ordo, but since nearly all of them are stridently committed to universal frequent communion and the reforms necessary for it, their claim of being against sacrilege rings hollow. They just don’t want to see it.

Full communion with the Vatican ✅ In the ultramontane church only evil trads are pronounced as schismatic and getting censored.
GERMANY 🇩🇪 The Catholic Women's Association of Germany (KFD) has DEMANDED that abortions be carried out at Catholic hospitals The group also called for free contraception and launched a bizarre tirade against 'so-called "pro-lifers"' who are 'völkisch-nationalist/racist, homo-and transphobic, or downplay the Holocaust'

Interesting passage from the the Briand Report on the Separation of Church and State. It considered Vatican I to be a unilateral separation declaration from the Roman Court. It explicitly declares that after the promulgation of Pastor Aeternus the era of the Concordat was over.
