As Premier Danielle Smith appears poised to bring permantn DST to Alberta, a reminder that Albertans voted against adopting Daylight Saving Time in a referendum in 2021.

The main reason to take your husband's name is to have a common family name. There's a lot of practical value in that, especially when kids come. People have chosen to imbue the tradition with lots of meanings, some good and some bad, but all subjective.

It is with deep sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Edmonton community on the passing of Dr. Darren Markland - a beloved physician, dedicated advocate, and outdoor enthusiast. Dr. Darren’s compassion and unwavering commitment to serving our community, along with his courage in speaking out against injustice - especially his advocacy for equitable healthcare - inspired us all. To Edmonton,  Darren was more than a healer,  he was a champion for kindness, justice, community spirit and had a deep appreciation of the nature that surrounds our beautiful city.
