This is absolutely insane. The suffragettes used far more extreme tactics than Palestine Action. They planted bombs, burned down private homes and smashed up art galleries. They killed five people! Her outrageous judgement is based on absurd historical ignorance.
The Lady Chief Justice: Palestine Action was not a direct action civil disobedience protest group like the suffragettes, but used violence to destroy property The suffragettes burned down country houses & train stations, bombed churches & sent letter bombs to politicians.

Read that again: “The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s.” That’s because of the proscription of Palestine Action. It is absurd. It is self evidently absurd. And history will damn every last person implicated
The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s as a result of the Palestine Action ban 2,800 arrests were made for supporting the group in 6 months -surpassing number of terror suspects detained in previous decade inews.co.uk/news/politics/uk…

Today Sir Keir Starmer announced a full ban on under-16s using the major social media platforms. It will be sold to you as protecting children. Read the mechanism, and you find something else entirely. You cannot stop one child from logging in to Instagram without establishing the age of every adult logging in. And you cannot check everyone's age without forcing every pensioner, every worker, every student to prove who they are. "Child safety" is the cheese in the mousetrap. The child is the shield. The adult is the target. We have seen this exact identity layer before. Last September Starmer announced the BritCard, a digital ID he wanted made mandatory for the right to work. 2.7 million of us signed against it, the polling collapsed, and the government retreated. But notice what was never withdrawn: the plumbing. The GOV. One Login, the digital wallet, the whole identity scaffold, quietly kept building while our attention was allowed to wander. Now a policy arrives that cannot function without it. This is not speculation. Phase 2 of the Online Safety Act already runs more than five million age checks a day, most of them on adults reaching for perfectly legal content. One age-verification contractor was breached and roughly 70,000 government identity documents walked out of the door. And Britain already arrests more people for what they post online than China, Russia, Belarus or Germany. If the government were serious about children it would ban the smartphone in the school: cheap, targeted, proven. It refused, and voted the measure down. It chose instead the path that verifies the entire adult population. Ask yourself why. The Ministry of Truth does not arrive shouting censorship. It arrives smiling, with safeguarding legislation. Papers please… Read more... 👇 labourheartlands.com/starmer… #DigitalID #OnlineSafety #socialmediaban #STARMER

The government has won its appeal to keep the ban on direct action group Palestine Action. The court of appeal today overturned the high court’s February decision that found the ban to be unlawful on the grounds that it disproportionately interfered with free speech and assembly, and that former home secretary Yvette Cooper had breached her own process during proscription. The court of appeal’s decision means supporting the direct action group – which targets businesses complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza – will remain a crimnal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Palestine Action was proscribed under section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 in July 2025, making it the first direct action group to be banned under UK terror legislation and categorised with the likes of Isis and Al Qaeda. Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori challenged the proscription via judicial review in a historic first. More than 3,000 people have been arrested for peacefully protesting the group’s proscription since it came into force – more than during the entire ‘war on terror’. Last week, four Palestine Action activists convicted of criminal damage at a facility owned by Elbit Systems, Israel’s biggest weapons manufacturer, were sentenced as terrorists despite not being found guilty of a terrorism offence. This move was kept secret from the jury until after they delivered their verdict, and is the first time direct actionists have been sentenced as terrorists for non-violent criminal offences.

You remember long summer drives — the wipers needed for insects, the windscreen covered with them at every stop. That phenomenon has a name in entomology: the windscreen effect. And its gradual disappearance is one of the clearest indicators we have. 🌿 Studies carried out since the 2000s across Britain and Europe document a significant decline in flying insect biomass, particularly in areas of intensive agriculture and suburban sprawl. Fewer insects in the air means less food for swallows, swifts, house martins, bats, and hedgehogs — all of which depend on flying insects as their primary food source. What each of us can do from our own garden: Leave an uncut zone — insects nest in stems and leaf litter. Even a corner left uncut through autumn makes a difference. Plant species with staggered flowering — particularly late-season plants to fill the gap from August to October when most gardens go quiet. Verbena bonariensis, knapweed, ivy flowers, and Michaelmas daisy cover this window. Reduce or remove outdoor lighting at night — artificial light disrupts nocturnal insects and night-flying pollinators, affecting reproduction cycles. Avoid insecticide treatments during the day, when pollinators are active. A garden that hums with insects in summer is not an unkempt garden. It is a garden that is working. 🌱 #InsectDecline #PollinatorGarden #GardenWildlife #UKGardening

BEFORE YOU BOARD YOUR NEXT FLIGHT READ THIS A former airline captain named John Hoyte reached out to me recently. He spent nearly 30 years flying commercial aircraft, developed serious neurological damage, lost his career, and has been trying to get this story properly investigated ever since. He sent me documents spanning two decades. The scale of what is in them is HUGE. What he shared includes parliamentary records, a 320-page published report from the British pilots union, @BBC coverage, House of Lords testimony, and active litigation in multiple countries. This has been heard at the highest levels. It has largely been buried. Most commercial jet aircraft use a system called bleed air. Instead of drawing fresh air from outside, the plane takes compressed air directly from the engines and pumps it into the cabin. That is the air you breathe for the entire flight. When engine seals wear down, oil and hydraulic fluid can leak into that air supply. Those fluids contain organophosphates, the same compounds found in certain pesticides and nerve agents. Inhaling them can cause neurological damage, memory loss, and chronic fatigue. In documented cases, far worse. This design has been in use since the 1950s. The health risk has been documented for just as long. In 2005, @BALPApilots, the British pilots union, published a full conference report on this with the University of New South Wales. The following year, 27 BALPA pilots were tested by University College London. All 27 showed evidence of toxic poisoning and reduced cognitive function. Not some of them. All of them. @BBCPanorama covered it in 2008. The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee heard evidence on it in 2007 and 2008. In February 2007, 40 unrelated passengers on a single XL Airways flight were seriously injured by contaminated cabin air. Their cases went to court. Twenty of them won a US jurisdiction ruling in 2010. A UK coroner recorded a death linked to this in 2015. France has formally recognised aerotoxic syndrome as an occupational disease. In the US, a law professor is suing Boeing for $40 million after a single exposure left him permanently injured. Morgan & Morgan, America's largest personal injury firm, is now actively taking mass cases on behalf of passengers and crew. John himself was one of those 27 pilots tested by UCL. He founded the Aerotoxic Association in 2007 at the Houses of Parliament to support other survivors. He has been fighting for this for nearly 20 years. Almost every commercial jet aircraft except the Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses the bleed air system. The 787 uses a different design that avoids this problem entirely. That safer design has existed for years. That fact alone says everything. BBC has not covered this story since 2020. The UK Civil Aviation Authority continues to say there is no positive evidence of a link. The Aerotoxic Association has been contacted by more than 2,500 people who believe they have been affected. John is looking for mainstream investigative journalists who want to dig deep into this. He is an expert witness with decades of evidence and is willing to answer every question. He has a passenger injured on that 2007 flight, Samantha Sabatino, whose case is in the parliamentary record. This is a genuine story of enormous public interest and it deserves proper investigation. If you are a journalist or researcher and want to speak to John directly, his contact details are in the comments. I will add media coverage links in the comments section. I spent all day in Woolwich Crown Court yesterday for the Filton activists' sentencing hearing with my colleague @daniaakkad. The court heard that the Terrorism Act was never intended to cover direct action protest. It heard that all of the defendants had been cleared of violent intent and sentencing them as terrorists would mark a historic first for charges of criminal damage. It heard that the Suffragettes, who did "a bit of smashing themselves", would have been labelled as terrorists but have now been vindicated by history. It heard the activists' goal was to stop the supply chain of drones and weaponry to Israel as it commits genocide in Gaza. It heard that attaching a terrorism connection to a case without it ever being heard by a jury was unconstitutional and posed a threat to the criminal justice system itself. It heard that the "terrorism connection" has been disproportionately used against minority groups and those advocating for them while not being used for neo-Nazis and white supremacists, including the man who killed Jo Cox MP. It heard that the law has been reinterpreted since the action took place, meaning the activists could have had no idea that what they did could have been caught up in terrorism laws at the time of the protest. It heard that the prosecution submitted key evidence just eight days before the hearing, giving the defence no time to review it or even discuss it with their clients. Despite all of this, Judge Jeremy Johnson, who has already tried to refer the defence's lead barrister for contempt of court and been forced to apologise for it, sentenced the defendants as terrorists. The judgment was handed down within minutes, indicating Judge Johnson had already made his mind up before the hearing had begun. Being in court yesterday felt akin to witnessing a colonial crime: punishing activists with terrorism offences in order to set a precedent that taking direct action to stop a UK-backed genocide will not be tolerated.

This is sick. Remember when Steve Reed campaigned on a platform to save nature and the countryside? Now he is bulldozing local democracy for data centres no one asked for. No one voted for this. We should be protesting in the streets like Albania is.
New: Steve Reed has just overruled Slough Council to approve the UK's largest data centre site near Heathrow. The council had initially blocked it because of concerns about the Green Belt, so MHCLG called it in. The site has been designated as critical national infrastructure. assets.publishing.service.go…
