Many thanks to a great Senator @SenatorDurbin
Today, I joined the Irish American Partnership for it’s 30th annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast in Chicago to celebrate the deep bonds between our two nations. More than 31 million Americans claim Irish heritage—I am proud to be one of them—and America has been enriched immeasurably by their contributions.

Useful corrective to arguments that Taiwan’s semiconductor sector is being hollowed out. “It is clear from the flow of capital that tech titans (like Nvidia, Google, AMD, and others) see Taiwan as a safe, efficient and irreplaceable center of the global semiconductor industry.”

It was a true pleasure, as always, to meet and exchange with former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Long before leading the United Nations, he served as Chef de Cabinet to the President of the General Assembly; an experience that gave him a unique understanding of the vital interplay between the Assembly’s deliberative and decision-making authority and the Secretariat’s operational leadership. His reflections and insights remain invaluable as we look ahead to the future of the United Nations. @uncpga @NizamiGanjaviIC @GWLvoices @CitiesAlliance @bankimoon_org

Beijing hosted separate ministerial-level meetings yesterday with Tim Cook, Ray Dalio, Steve Schwarzman, and possibly others. They’re playing for keeps in terms of transmitting their preferred narrative to people who are in touch with President Trump and his advisors.
On the same day, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with @Apple CEO Tim Cook in Beijing. Wang said recent fluctuations in bilateral economic and trade relations have been caused mainly by the US side’s intensive rollout of new, restrictive measures targeting China following September talks in Madrid. China hopes that the US will work with China, guided by the important consensus reached between the two heads of state during phone calls, to find solutions through equal dialogue and consultation, and provide a more stable, predictable environment for enterprises from both countries to cooperate. The Chinese government will steadfastly pursue high-level opening-up and keep improving the business environment, enabling foreign enterprises to share in China's development opportunities.

Multilateralism is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. @WHO like the @UN is a platform where every country large & small, rich & poor has a voice. It’s where we make health not a privilege but right. Together let’s not allow frustration to blind us to progress & let us reconnect to the idea that by standing together, we can overcome challenges. No nation can phase alone. The rule of the game is together, especially in this world, which is getting smaller & smaller. @DrTedros

Interesting that int'l job postings are at 2020 levels but US ones are between 2020 and 2021. At this stage, at least, it doesn't seem like the RoW is trying to take advantage of low vacancies in the US...(which seems like a missed opportunity). Source: topcat.aeaweb.org/about-aea/…
