USPSTF2021 recs (overturns milestone USPSTF2016) now drop #colorectalcancer (CRC) prevention as a rationale for taking aspirin
I think they missed the mark
I’ve dug into their evidence synthesis and can expand what I told @nytimes

Not all UPFs are created equal! 💡Using plasma biomarkers, @Mengxi_D’s study found that acceptable-quality UPFs (e.g. whole-grain cereals) were linked to lower GI cancer risk, while poor-quality ones (e.g. sugary drinks) raised the risk.

We're honored to be featured in the Harvard Gazette for our recent journal article on colorectal cancer screening. @MingyangSong3@AndyChanMD@wangkaiepi@HSPHCancerEpi@HarvardEpi@HarvardChanSPH
Our findings have significant implications for personalized healthcare: Individuals with a clean colonoscopy might extend their screening intervals beyond 10 years, depending on lifestyle risk factors and family history.
This framework helps refocus healthcare resources on those at greater risk—those who've never been screened and disadvantaged groups with traditionally lower screening rates.
We're grateful to the Harvard Gazette for highlighting our efforts. You can read the article here:
