LOGICAL FALLACIES AND HOW THEY TRICK YOUR THINKING: 1. Straw Man – attacking a distorted version of someone's argument 2. Ad Hominem – attacking the person instead of the point 3. False Dichotomy – pretending only two options exist when many do 4. Slippery Slope – assuming one step leads inevitably to disaster 5. Appeal to Authority – accepting something as true because an expert said so 6. Bandwagon – believing something because everyone else does 7. Circular Reasoning – using the conclusion as proof of itself 8. Red Herring – changing the subject to avoid the real argument 9. Hasty Generalisation – drawing broad conclusions from tiny samples 10. Post Hoc – assuming that because B followed A, A caused B 11. Appeal to Emotion – using feelings instead of facts to win an argument 12. Confirmation Bias – only accepting evidence that supports what you already believe 13. False Equivalence – treating two completely unequal things as if they are the same 14. Burden of Proof Reversal – demanding others disprove your claim instead of proving it yourself 15. Appeal to Tradition – assuming something is right simply because it has always been done that way 16. Tu Quoque – deflecting criticism by pointing out the other person does the same thing 17. Overgeneralisation – taking one incident and applying it as a rule to everything and everyone Think clearly or be manipulated easily, there is no middle ground.
